Going Dutch is a month-long study abroad program from May 30-June 28 created specifically for Tennessee students in graphic design, photography, and art. Students will spend two weeks in Amsterdam and two weeks in Rotterdam and study either Digital Photography or History of Graphic Design. Classes will meet for two hours a day, four days a week, with design studio tours and museum visits on Friday, and plenty of opportunities for original research. Students will stay in clean and comfortable hostels during the trip, including Piet Blom's amazing cube houses.
The Netherlands has a tremendous art historical heritage: the birthplace of such luminaries as Rembrandt, Vermeer, Van Gogh, Piet Mondriaan, Theo van Doesburg, Wim Crouwel, Gerrit Rietveld and Piet Zwart, the Netherlands is also an important center of contemporary design, with more type designers per capita than any other country in the world. For photographers, the country is full of unique imagery including canals, architecture, windmills, and the street life of Amsterdam.
This program is approved for credit by the Tennessee Consortium for International Studies. The deadline for application to the program is February 19. Go to TnCIS.org to fill out the simple online application.
