AIGA Knoxville’s mission is, on the local level, the same as on the national level: to advance designing as a professional craft, strategic tool and vital cultural force.

If you’ve been an AIGA member for any length of time, there’s a good chance you’ve probably seen this summary description before. It’s a nice statement of purpose after all. Well written, hits a lot of the right notes. But, practically speaking, what does it mean? Quite simply, it means that we are here for you at all stages of your practice and across the diverse areas of practice that design encompasses. AIGA represents a variety of professions under the umbrella of communication design, ranging from book and type design to interactive design and experience design. We support design professionals, educators and students throughout their careers.

Whether you are just getting started or a seasoned designer, a student or a veteran designer, an in-house designer or a creative independent, AIGA Knoxville’s mission is to inform, to inspire and to engage the design community of East TN. Knoxville enjoys a vibrant and eclectic design community. Through innovative programming and strategic partnerships with like-minded organizations and municipalities, AIGA Knoxville shares professional expertise, stimulates discussion, and offers numerous opportunities and platforms for you to connect with your local board and each other. We work to elevate the conversation surrounding design, and help create a more connected and better-resourced design community.
